Seven Deadly Sins Pattern Exploration

The project goal was to create a wrapping paper that redefined the seven deadly sins. I started by looking back at how the seven deadly sins began. To then use this research and put a modern spin on old themes. I started with the original animals that embodied each sin. By anthropomorphizing the original animals, I created a pattern that became light hearted and fun as well as meaningful and different. I tried to modernize subject by adding a illustrative touch as well as using modern cues that allude to sinful themes.
By anthropomorphizing the original animals, they becomes a light-hearted reflection of ourselves. More than just the animals, the colors are also reflective of the original sins. Colors such as green for greed. These patterns are meant to tell a story without stating the sins themselves.
I asked myself what other forms this pattern could take. I thought it would be fun to give adult themes to children. This inevitably led to baby clothes... fun, friendly, sinful baby clothes.
